Heartbroken Craig Charles quits I’m A Celeb following brother’s sudden death

ITV bosses confirmed the Corrie actor left camp on Thursday morning after being told of the death of his brother Dean

Craig Charles was informed by I'm A Celeb bosses that his older brother Dean had died while he was in the jungle.

Producers broke the news to him when he woke up on Thursday morning in Australia, late night UK time.

An insider said to The Sun: "We took the decision not to shock him and wake him in middle of the night and will inform him of the sad news when he wakes up.

"He will be allowed to do exactly what he wishes."

Dean's sad passing was the reason that Craig was exempt from the Bushtucker trial The Terror Tavern.

When presenters Ant and Dec went into the site to tell the celebrities who will be facing the challenge, Craig was not in the camp.

ITV bosses have now confirmed that Craig left camp on Thursday morning after being told of the death of his brother Dean

An ITV spokesman said: "Craig decided to leave the IAC camp earlier today and will be heading back to his family the UK. We send our sincere condolences to Craig and his family."
