One Direction's Harry Styles is famed for being a bit of a heartbreaker (think Caroline Flack, Cara Delevingne, Emily Atack and Taylor Swift), but even he's slammed Miley Cyrus for her recent raunchy perfromance at the MTV VMAs.

"I think it's, you know, promoting promiscuity."

In an interview with US film website Moviefone the 1D star said: "I think it’s quite inappropriate."

"Especially for the age group that it’s aimed at. I think it's, you know, promoting promiscuity."

Which is a far cry from what he said at the time, which was something along the lines of "I think it's time she came out of her shell" and "it was family friendly".

First things first, let's just remind ourselves of the fact that Harry, while talking about Miley to the press directly after her performance, was caught making a VERY rude hand gesture. The kind that involves a finger-V and a rapidly-moving tongue, if you know what we're saying.

Secondly, yeah. We get it. The dance was raunchy and it certainly wasn't suitable for children. It also, arguably, smacked home the fact that, in showbiz, sex sells.

But (we're playing devil's advocate here) at least it wasn't dressed up as being FOR kids. Unlike, say, the song Kiss You by One Direction. Which asks girls who don't fancy taking things slow (wink wink, nudge nudge) to take the 1D boys home, fast, and be theirs for the night.

The sailor hats and cute costumes are all well and good, guys, but, in terms of promoting promiscuity to young girls, this is a big fat no-no.

See what we're getting at here, Hazza? Double standards. Gender-based double standards.

Also, while we're at it, remember the time Harry tried twerking himself? At the (shock-horror!) Teen Choice Awards?

Snigger.

Harry, you can't jump aboard the bash-Miley-bandwagon now, okay? We already SAW your appreciative (ahem) gesture after Miley twerked up a storm - and, y'know, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and all that.
