Despite seeming like one of the more rock solid couples in showbiz, husband and wife of 13 years Gwen and Gavin announced their separation this summer - citing irreconcilable differences.

And Gwen has shared her true feelings on the matter in her latest single - ‘Used to love you’ - the video of which shows a tearful Stefani welling up as she remembers their long relationship.

Revealing emotions anyone who has been through a break up will empathise with, the heartbreaking lyrics tell the tale of a romance Gwen thought would go the distance.

The emotive chorus even reveals that Stefani had begun to ‘hate’ her husband, Bush singer Rossdale, before they eventually called it quits this year.

‘I don't know why I cry

But I think it's cause I remembered for the first time

Since I hated you

That I used to love you.'

But despite the personal heartache accompanying this track, it was with a similarly emotional outpouring in No Doubt’s ‘Don’t Speak’ that the band had their first stand out hit.

The song, which was released just after Gwen and bandmate Tony Kabal had broken up, shows a distraught Stefani singing the lyrics as tears form in her eyes.

Onwards and upwards Gwen, it’s his loss!
