She later added a special thank-you to her surrogate and TV family for respecting her privacy during the pregnancy.
Ellen wrote: "Sienna was born via surrogate & I would like to thank my whole @ShondalandTV family for helping us enjoy these first few weeks privately"
The name Sienna comes from the English word meaning "orange-red" - and is ultimately from the name of the city of Siena in Italy, because of the colour of the clay there.
It is said to mean "delicate" and has proven to be a popular choice for many parents in recent years.
Ellen and Chris have a five-year-old daughter named Stella Luna.
Congratulations to the couple on their expanded family!
