The first ever Queen of the Castle Giovanna Fletcherhas opened up about how she struggled with eating disorders when she was younger, admitting that her difficulties started when she was just a child.
The mum of three revealed she had a “dysfunctional” relationship with food, saying, “I look back at photos [of myself] now and think, ‘What were you worried about?’
“But at the time it was about punishing my body, being skinny and making myself smaller because then I’d be more acceptable."
She continued, “Certainly how I viewed my body and definitely how I treated it in terms of food was dysfunctional. I remember being on Frinton beach when I was about nine and seeing stretch marks on my thighs.
"I was always the tubbier one. Compared to my brother and sister who were like sticks, I was much curvier."

Now happily married to her childhood sweetheart, McFly frontman Tom Fletcher, Giovanna has faced body shaming in the public eye and back in 2018 hit out at critics after an appearance on Loose Women following the birth of her second child.
“A few days ago I had a near stranger point at my stomach, laugh and say, 'Oh look, Mummy's still got her tummy'. This was eleven days after giving birth,” she explained. “I was so shocked I laughed. But the words have stuck with me. Obviously. It wasn't left there either as there was another comment about my face 'slimming down’.”

And Tom also admitted in the 2012 McFly biography that he’d struggled with his own eating disorder in the early days on the band.
“I was obsessing about being the fat one in the band,” he said. “I wanted to lose weight, but rather than going about it the sensible way, I pretty much stopped eating.
“I'd go to Starbucks and order a frappuccino and blueberry muffin and that was me for the day. Not only would I beat myself up internally if I consumed anything else, I'd be in a foul mood if we were working somewhere there was no Starbucks.”
