Funny, confident and gorgeous. Ginger Spice seemingly had it all and let's face it, who didn't want to be her in her trademark union jack dresses and oh-so-90s platform boots.

However there is more to the picture than it seems, and Geri Horner, now 44, has opened up that during her days in the world's best loved girl band she battled with bulimia, proving that the illness can effect anyone even if they may seem near perfect to others.

In interview for OWN's Where Are They Now, Geri said: "I started being bulimic and no one would notice it because your body weight stays pretty much the same. It's bloody dangerous."

Geri once admitted that she was close to death with the illness and may well have died if it wasn't for Robbie Williams. Close pal Robbie urged her to get help.

Speaking to Piers Morgan she said: 'I was lonely and felt [Robbie] was the only person on the planet who could understand me because of his experiences with Take That,

'I was worried I'd get fat. I would binge and then felt fatter and would make myself sick. It was awful.'

Geri now claims to have a healthy relationship with food.

Bulimia is an illness that affects an estimated 725,000 people in the UK, from a study report, commissioned by Beat and produced by PwC in February 2015.
