Geri, 43, and 41-year-old Christian started dating in March 2014 – and they walked down the aisle the following May. Talking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for This Morning, Geri insisted she knew Christian was ‘the one’ almost immediately.
She said: “People talk about their wedding day and until you get there, you don’t really know what it’s going to be like. It truly was the happiest day of my life, it was so amazing.”
Spice Girl Geri admitted that she held off getting married because, until Christian, she’d never felt like it was ‘forever’.
“The thing is my mother, she got divorced so it kind of put me off a bit if I’m honest and I hadn’t met anyone that I felt it was right [with] really,” she said.
“And when I met Christian, I automatically knew, I did, I actually said to my friend, ‘I think I’ve met the man I want to marry’.”
Following their idyllic wedding at St Mary’s Church in Bedfordshire, attended by stars including Emma Bunton and Jade Jones, Geri and Formula 1 boss Christian jetted off to the South of France for a ‘mini-moon’.
Explaining why they had to cut their break short, Geri continued: “It’s really weird saying ‘my husband’ but my ‘husband’, he works for a race team. He runs a team and it was the Monaco Grand Prix a few days later.
“He had the race on at the weekend so we had a little mini break up in the mountains outside of Cannes, a mini-moon.”
