Having dated famous faces including Robbie Williams, Chris Evans, Lee Ryan and Russell Brand, her tumultuous love life hit headlines for over a decade before she confirmed her romance with F1 boss Christian Horner in 2014.
And in what appeared to be a fairy-tale ending for Geri Horner, 51, the pair wed the following year and welcomed son Montague, now seven, in 2017.
The couple also share the Spice Girl’s daughter Bluebell, 17, from her relationship with screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, and Christian’s daughter Olivia, 10, from his relationship with Beverley Allen.
But last week, it emerged that Red Bull Racing had recruited an independent barrister to investigate claims made against Christian, 50, of “inappropriate behaviour of a controlling nature”, believed to have been made by a female employee.
He was due to be questioned on Friday over the claims, which he strongly denies. Now an insider says that Geri can’t help but feel worried about the future.
A source says, “Obviously this has been a hellish time for Geri and she’s been in a state of absolute turmoil – trying to hold it together for the kids while quietly crumbling inside.
“The media speculation coupled with all the interrogation and drama going on internally has left her fairy-tale life in tatters and she’s at rock bottom – struggling to eat, barely sleeping and just about functioning as she struggles to deal with it all.”
The couple are due to celebrate their 10th anniversary next year, and while the beginning of their blossoming romance raised eyebrows – with the pair first meeting in 2009 as friends and confirming their romance just six months after Olivia was born – their idyllic life has been smooth sailing since.
Geri and Christian, said to have a joint fortune of over £70 million, live between two country mansions in Oxfordshire and Hampshire, and regularly share snapshots of their life – from private A-list parties to time spent on their farm – with fans on social media.
But now the source says that, for the first time, tensions could hit their solid marriage.
The insider says, “The speculation is driving Geri crazy and it’s making her extremely anxious. She’s now panicking that it could start causing tension in their marriage due to what could potentially be months or years of legal drama.
As her multi-millionaire husband’s alleged behaviour sparks an investigation, insiders say Geri Horner has been left feeling ‘anxious’ by the drama.
“She says she feels like she’s in a living nightmare and is absolutely terrified about how things could unravel.”
But with so much at stake, the insider says Geri is determined to stand by Christian’s side as the investigation launches.
The process will be carried out by a “specialist” legal team, with the F1 team’s owner commenting, “The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practical.”
And while she firmly believes he is telling the truth, Geri is under no illusion that she and Christian – who will retain his £7 million-a-year post while the investigation takes place – will need to ride out the storm together.
The source adds, “Geri is doing her best to recompose herself and get out of this hole she’s in, as she knows it’s no good for anyone and is detrimental not only to her physical state but to her mental wellbeing too.
“Ultimately, she just wants to be there to support Christian in whatever way she can and she’s determined that whatever happens, this won’t break their family apart.”
