Following reports of a bust-up that ended their marriage, George Kay has pleaded not guilty to threatening Kerry Katona with a taser-style weapon.

George, 36, is said to have brandished the instrument on 19 September 2015, just a year after he tied the knot with 35-year-old Kerry.

The former rugby player was charged for possessing a banned weapon and assault but, during an appearance at Hove Crown Court yesterday [11 January 2016], he pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Now George, who shares daughter Dylan-Jorge Rose with Atomic Kitten singer Kerry, will stand trial from 25 April.

He was released on bail this week and banned from contacting Kerry and entering their former home-town of Crowborough in East Sussex.

After being read the terms of his bail, George allegedly asked whether he could go to Crowborough to get his hair cut.

But Judge David Rennie responded: “No, that’s slightly daft. You can get your hair cut somewhere else.”

It's thought Kerry will give evidence in the upcoming trial

Although George denies the claims, last year he told Closer that his marriage to Kerry was under strain.

He said: “It’s been tough lately. We’ve been rowing a lot. Marriage isn’t what I thought it would be to be honest.

“There have been times I’ve thought we might not last. In my darkest moments I’ve wondered if we should even be together.”

Kerry was not present during yesterday’s proceedings, but it is thought she will give evidence during the trial.
