In a recent interview with Heat magazine, the former Apprentice contestant ranted that Gemma is only famous because she is "fat".
"Well done Gemma, on that… being fat. That’s, err, you did well, you did well. And I know on Splash!, I know Gemma got special plaudits because she was fat on that, too."
Gemma, after catching wind of the comments, lashed out at Katie on Twitter, branding her an "utter mug" and calling the fame-hungry columnist "desperate".
"@KTHopkins you are One UTTER MUG ! to think I was so nice to you when I met you you would love 1% of the lolve and admiration out there 4 me.
Gemma Collins isn't alone in slamming Katie Hopkins; Lily Allen also hit back at the controversial rent-a-gob after she slammed the songstress for "gaining two stone and looking pretty hideous" and "just [being] famous for having a famous dad."
Lily responded furiously on Twitter, writing: "Yes, after tragically loosing a child so late in to my pregnancy I may have gained a few pounds. I am one of many that find comfort in food.
"The two pregnancies that followed were terrifying because of what had happened before and I was pretty much on bed rest for 20 months.
I wasn't exercising because I didn't want to take any risks, and funnily enough, the survival of my children felt more important than being thin."
Lily later deleted her tweets because her outburst towards Katie was "exactly what she wanted".
She wrote: "Sorry about that, but my babies are a touchy subject and I gave her exactly what she wanted by responding. I am now going to delete it all."
