TOWIE's Gemma Collins is told she can't freeze her eggs as the count is too low after planning to go through with the procedure
TOWIE legend Gemma Collins revealed on Loose Women earlier today that she will not be able to freeze her eggs, as she was planning to do.
The businesswoman explained that she'd had a consultation at a fertility clinic with a doctor to discuss freezing her eggs, but was devastatingly told that she would not be able to.
The consultant told Gemma that, unfortunately, her egg count is too low, and so the procedure was unlikely to yield any results for her.
Calling the visit "traumatic", Gemma explained: "They said, 'You know what, it's not going to work for you Gem, you've got a really low count'," giving her a one in ten chance that she could fall pregnant naturally.
"I was coming here to get my eggs frozen, Iw as planning to go out for drinks with my girls afterwards and then I was told it's not going to happen. I was actually going to throw an egg-freezing party on TOWIE!"
Linda Robson and Ruth Langsford then explained that, whilst the clinic would need a count of 12, Gemma sadly only had a count of four, which is too low to do IVF with.
Gemma went on to explain that TOWIE was "real" and that they "had to tell me that on cameras", leaving her distraught.
Sherrie Hewson asked whether Gemma minded having her most "intimate details" shared on camera, to which Gemma said: "We've got such a loyal fanbase and it's been going such a long time that it's only fair to my fans that I share this with them."
Janet described the show as a "trade-off", saying: "You get all this money but then you have to sit here and talk to me about your personal details," to which Gemma said: "People watch me and think everything's so flashy on the show, but actually no amount of money is going to give me a baby."
Gemma then went on to explain that she'd considered whether she herself had done something wrong: "I wondered if I've taken the morning after pill too many times, I wonder if it's because I did have a miscarriage - you just start beating yourself up."
But she felt reassured by her doctor who told her there was "nothing she could do about it".
She admitted she needed to "bring her weight down a bit" and that she did "struggle" with that, but she said that she felt "positive" and that the experience had given her "something to concentrate on."
Although describing how an egg donor was her best chance of having a baby, she wasn't too happy since it wouldn't have her DNA, but revealed that one of her best friends had offered her eggs to Gemma.
But hilariously, Gemma has also been offered multiple times by men who are coming into her shop and offering up their... ahem, "specimen" to her!
She said: "I was thinking, 'What, are we gonna go in the changing rooms now?!'"
But Gemma is holding on hope for her Mr Right. NOT Mr Wright!
She said: "I go to bed every night praying that I am going to meet this wonderful person and I'm going to fall in love. I still hope - my mum tells me not to give up hope, she says, 'It will happen when the time is right'."
She also revealed that she would have a baby on her own if it came to it, saying: "Id o think that I've got a lot of love to give to a child, I could give a child a lovely life.
"As much as I'd love the whole dream and the family unit, if it doesn't happen, I will go ahead and do it on my own - nothing's going to stop me."
We wish you all the best, Gemma!
