The 30-year-old admitted that, after being a stay-at-home mum for 10 years, she doubted her abilities, despite the fact she’s definitely a star baker.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, Nadiya said: “Before I did Bake Off I did wonder if, after 10 years of being at home, I was work ready.

“When I was called for the final 12 I nearly rang to tell them I couldn’t do it.”

Her victory last month came with an emotional speech, during which Nadiya insisted she will never question herself again.

Nadiya, who shares children Musa, nine, Dawud, eight, and five-year-old Maryam with husband Abdal, continued: “My speech was when I won came from somewhere deep.

“It was all about he boundaries I put on myself. But with each week of Bake Off another boundary fell away until I felt completely open and free to run as far as I wanted. I feel there’s nothing I can’t do.”

Nadiya also revealed she’s not the only one experiencing fame as a result of her Bake Off win.

Discussing her husband, Nadiya proudly said: “I believe he’s what you’d call a dreamboat, that’s what it says in the papers.

“Or ‘the Hottie with the Cappuccino Skin!’ That’s what I call him now. It’s not all that surprising though because he is lovely and quite handsome.”

During her tell-all interview, Nadiya opened up about the struggles with her weight, admitting that she was previously a size 18.

Nadiya insists she'll never doubt herself again

“I decided three years ago to do something about my weight,” she said. “I briefly tried meal replacements and lost a stone but they didn’t suit me.

“Instead, I just ate smaller portions of food and walked a lot. I would do five miles before the kids got up and then go out again in the evening. I drank around 4L of water a day. Gradually, over nine months, I lost three stone.”

And it looks like Nadiya is here to stay, as the Luton-born baker teased plans for more television work and a book.

She added: “I want to grab it with both hands and say, ‘It’s mine!’”
