Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne has issued a public apology to BBC newsreader Laura Kuenssberg after calling her a “disingenuous plopcarpet”.
Mathew, who will reprise the leading role of Gavin Shipman in the upcoming Gavin and Stacey Christmas special, took to Twitter to share his frustrations after the BBC presenter made her political leanings known during the live coverage of last week’s election, in spite of the BBC's commitment to impartiality.
But last night, Mathew issued his apology via Twitter, saying, “I apologise to both @bbclaurak and the BBC for my comments on election night.
“I was caught up in the frenzy of the election and realise I used my public platform and passion for politics in an incorrect way. I regret this & we should stand together. Merry Christmas one and all.”
Laura then accepted his apology, urging Twitter users to be “less bitter” in 2020.
