Using his CBB catchphrase, the partially-deaf actor kept asking passengers to "speak up" while they were talking to him - but, despite the high spirits, the crew were extremely unhappy with the noise he was making.
When the captain handed over the controls to his co-pilot during the 11-hour-flight, he couldn't take a nap due to the noise, and warned Gary he could be arrested if he didn't quieten down.
A passenger on the flight said: "The crew loved having Gary on the flight and he had everyone laughing throughout but they had make him quieten down when the captain was taking his break.
"Gary was told 'Ssshh the captain is asleep in there.'
"But he couldn't hear and said 'What? There's ice cream in there?!'
"Nobody - passengers or crew - could keep a straight face. He did quieten down in the end."
