Frankie and Wayne Bridge are parents to two boys

The Saturdays star Frankie Bridge has revealed she had to miss the ITV gala after her four-year-old son Parker fell ill.

The mum-of-two to Parker and Carter, two, opened up about her eldest son falling ill which left her worrying for his well-being.

The yummy mummy, who is married to retired footballer Wayne Bridge, shared an adorable snap of herself and Parker cuddled up and wrote alongside the photo: "The face of a proud emotionally drained Mum whose child has been really poorly and scared her half to death and a child who is the prime example of how well and quickly they bounce back..."

She added: "This little man is so full of love and this surprise hug felt more amazing than he will ever know... not sure who was looking after who...? 💙"

The 28-year-old mum treated her little one to cuddles and admitted that "Christmas movies are the order of the day," she added: "Croup is not our friend..."

Poor little Parker fell ill with croup which leaves children with a distinctive barking cough and whenever they breathe in they make a harsh should. The childhood condition affects the windpipe, the airway to the lungs and the voice box.

Frankie went on to tell one of her Instagram followers that her son fell ill unexpectedly, she explained: "He went to bed absolutely fine. Felt like the longest wait for that ambulance."

Bless them.

Lots of other parents explained their horrific experience of croup too, with one person writing: "My 9 month old son has just had croup. It’s was just awful and so scary!! We are incredibly lucky to have the #nhs honestly couldn’t fault the impeccable care they gave him. And the reassurance they gave me and my partner!"

Someone else said: "It’s the worst ever... my son was hospitalised three or four times. They said he’d grow out of it and he did... but scariest time of my life... listening to them struggling to breathe! Get a humidifier best thing I got and put it on in their room it steams the room and works a treat xxx"

Another commented: "Ah we have had a tough time with croup and a few ambulance trips! It’s so scary! Hope you guys are all good now 😘"

A fourth recalled: "My Daughter suffers from Croup and it's scares the life out of me. I'll never forget the first time I heard her 'bark' 😦. Hope he is better soon ❤"

One more added: "Croup is horrible. My 18 months old had it twice this year. So scary. I know how you feel. Hope he is better soon"
