The 34-year-old welcomed baby girl Sienna Evie last month but sources say she’s looking forward to getting back into work.
She’ll be joining the Channel 4 soap as Angela, a character brought in to create some drama for the Blake family.
A source told the Mirror: “Adele can’t wait to join the soap. At the moment, she is enjoying her time at home with Sienna but is looking forward to being back on screen later in the year.”
Viewers last saw Adele on Emmerdale in 2011, but she first appeared as Kelly Windsor in 1993.
Speaking to Hello! magazine last year, Adele revealed the heartbreaking reason why she turned down a return to the ITV soap.
Admitting that she’s suffered a string of miscarriages in the past, Adele said she didn’t want to risk anything.
She said: “Some of my friends will be shocked to learn about my previous pregnancies and miscarriages, as I kept them to myself. I want this to be a success story.”
