Ferne McCann opens up about the ‘tough’ side of single parenting

Ferne McCann has opened up to Closer magazine about how "tough" being a single parent can be. Read the full interview in this week's issue - but in the meantime, here's a sneak peek...

After giving birth to her first baby daughter Sunday last year, Ferne McCann has remained nothing but positive about parenting her baby on her own.

But in an exclusive interview with Closer magazine, Ferne has admitted she has found the past year "tough," and was overwhelmed after the realisation of everything she would be doing on her own.

She said: "While I was pregnant, I knew I was going to be a single mum, but it didn't hit me until I actually had Sunday.

"That was tough to deal with - realising I really was totally on my own."

Of course, Ferne has had a huge amount of support from her mum and other family members, but said the "most difficult things" about being a single mum was making decisions on someone else's behalf.

She explained: "I don't have another person to confer with, I don't have another person to discuss my day-to-day decisions with – like choosing what food she has, what she does every day. It's tough."

But ever the optimist, Ferne refused to be brought down by what had happened before, and looked forward to the future - with her new boyfriend.

When asked about her love life, Ferne blushed and laughed that she was turning red, before finally admitting: "I'm happy!"

She went on to affirm that Sunday was the most important thing, however, adding: "But right now, it's all about me and Sunday.

"I don't have much time for anything else – my love life is at the bottom of the list of priorities."

She revealed that it was her dream to have more children one day, living in a "nice house in the countryside with a family."

Ferne asserted that life didn't stop if you're a single parent, saying: "You can be a single parent and still have a future!

"If one relationship doesn't work out, you can still get that fairytale ending."
