TOWIE viewers were left shocked when Ferne McCann’s co-star Tommy Mallet launched into a furious tirade against her on a recent episode, branding the newly single star “loose” and a “goer.”

But speaking exclusively to Closer, Ferne McCann insists she won’t be “slut-shamed” by her male co-stars and feels there’s a huge double standard on the show.

She says: “Many of the boys on TOWIE have been caught cheating on their girlfriends countless times, but never get branded slags. I think people were surprised by Tommy’s rant because they’re used to seeing me defend myself, but I was so shocked. I didn’t want to cry on screen, but as soon as the cameras stopped rolling, I broke down. His words were so cutting.”

Ferne and Tommy had a dramatic fall out recently

Ferne – who got on the wrong side of Tommy after telling him he spoke “disgustingly” to girlfriend Georgia Kousoulou – adds:

“He thinks that because I’m single and he’s seen me chatting to lads on nights out, I’m sleeping with them all and I’m a slag. What he said was hurtful, and I feel I’ve had to defend myself to my family, fans and the whole cast that I don’t sleep around.”
