FBI hunts hacker after private photos of Jennifer Lawrence are leaked online

The FBI is on the hunt for the hacker who has reportedly stolen private photographs of over 101 celebrities.

Personal photos of Jennifer Lawrence, 24, were published on website 4Chan, before being shared on sites such as Reddit and Imgur.

A spokeswoman for the US intelligence agency said that they were “aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals, and is addressing the matter.”

The FBI refused to comment any further as they continue their investigation.

Agents have been involved in previous hacking scandals, such as the leaking of personal pictures of Scarlett Johansson. Their investigation led to the conviction of Florida based hacker, Christopher Chaney, in 2011.

Following the emergence of the extremely private photographs, Jennifer Lawrence’s publicist released a statement warning, confirming that the pictures were genuine.

"The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."

Other celebrities such as Downton Abbey actress Jessica Brown Findlay and Cat Deeley have also been targeted by the shocking security breach.
