The 40-year-old was shown talking to brother Mike about parenthood during last week’s show, filmed before he discovered in July that girlfriend Emily Macdonagh was pregnant.

‘You know, so much of me wants to have kids again but there's another part of me that thinks in ten years, Junior will be 18 and I can backpack around the world with him… You know what I mean?’ he explained to Mike.

Speaking about the comments this week, the singer said:

‘On a recent episode of My Life you might have seen me debating with my brother Mike over whether or not I'd want to become a dad again. Obviously, we had the conversation before I knew Emily was pregnant.'

‘But at that stage, I wasn't sure. Situations change all the time and you don't necessarily plan how things are going to work out. But I couldn't be happier to have another baby on the way.’

And the excited father confirmed he would be supporting 23-year-old medical student Emily every step of the way.

'Before I knew Emily was pregnant, I wasn't sure'

‘I wouldn't miss the birth of my child for anything! I think it's important for dads to be present and to hold their partner's hand.’

And it seems Emily is a natural mum, with Pete adding:

'She's got everything covered when it comes to the pregnancy - she's amazing. She just knows what she's doing.'
