Nobody wants to have to see an ex again, and certainly not one you were engaged to and then reportedly ghosted.
But that's where Charlize Theron and Sean Penn are at right now, promoting the movie they both worked on before calling off their engagement in 2015 after being friends for decades, and a couple for a year and a half.
It's not often we find ourselves really, strongly relating to Charlize Theron (considering she's an A list movie star and we're... not) but this is as real as it gets.
Firstly, during the premiere, they stood as far away from each other as they could, without making a thing out of it.
Secondly, they enjoyed/endured this polite peck on the cheek that makes us want to cringe in a ball and die.
Thirdly, reports are saying that during a press conference, Charlize Theron only looked at Sean once and it was with a look of death. We're imagining something like this?
Hopefully this all just looks a lot more awkward than it is. After all, Charlize never confirmed the ghosting rumours - in fact, she actively denied them, telling WSJ magazine:
"And the f***ing ghosting thing, like literally, I still don't even know what it is. It's just its own beast. We were in a relationship and then it didn't work anymore. And we both decided to separate. That's it.'"
So maybe it's just a case of the pictures being a bit misleading? Maybe?!
