EXCLUSIVE: Holly Hagan on her amazing weight loss: ‘I want to be a positive influence’

Closer spoke to Geordie Shore's Holly Hagan about her incredible weight loss and how she achieved it (whilst hating the gym!)

What triggered you to lose weight?

My weight has always been a constant battle of mine. Being in the public eye means that I would often get negative comments from people about my weight, then one day I just thought enough is enough and I wanted to make a change. My weightloss has been a gradual thing because I've done it the natural, healthy way.

Have you ever dieted before? If so what diets have you tried?

You name it, I've tried it. Cutting carbs, having carbs every other day, high protein, low carb diet, paleo diet, literally everything.

What was your method of losing weight? Did you cut out any food groups such as carbs or sugar?

I try to keep my carbs down, but obviously not cut them out altogether because you do need them! The main enemy is sugar. I just stick to things like grilled chicken salad, eggs, tuna, cereal bars if I'm on the go. If I'm craving a sugar fix, then I'd have a protein shake as they taste just like vanilla milkshakes but contain the nutrients I need.

What is your favourite way to get fit?

I'm not a huge fan of the gym, but I train with my personal trainer when I have time and he incorporates weight training and circuits which can be fun.

Which celebrity do you look towards for fitspiration?

I love curvy girls like Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj. They're really slim, but healthy and toned, still maintaining their curves.

Now yourself, Charlotte and Vicky have all turned over a new leaf and got in shape, do you hope that your example will have a positive influence on younger fans?

Yes, I hope that this will have a positive influence as I am only promoting a healthy diet. It is a shame that society these days has a certain 'ideal' body type but I have learnt that you have to be happy with who you are. I lost the weight because I wanted to feel healthy and I didn't feel comfortable in certain clothes.

Are you worried that younger fans feel the pressure to look a certain way?

I don't want young girls to look at me and think of me as a role model and that they have to lose weight because I have. I have lost the weight for myself and only myself. I was defined as over weight which has health consequences while I was eating high fat and highly sugary foods.

Are you more confident in bed now you’ve lost weight?

Most definitely!

What is it about Protein World that you love?
