Megan and Jordan, both 23, met on MTV’s Ex on the Beach – and unexpectedly left the show as a couple.

Despite going against the nature of the show and quickly moving in together afterwards, Megan confirmed their split on Twitter on Tuesday.

She wrote: “And just so you all no. Me & Jordan filmed [EOTB] months ago and have split up recently on good terms. That’s all you need to no [sic].”

Now, speaking exclusively to Closer Online, Jordan has opened up about the break-up, admitting he hopes this isn’t the end of the road for him and Megan.

Jordan said: “Our relationship was intense from the start. But now we’ve both got a lot of work coming up and sometimes you have to put your career first.

“I know Megan wants to focus on her singing and I’ve got a lot of TV work in 2016, so for now we decided it would be better to be single.”

Of course, as soon as Megan confirmed the split, the rumour mill went into overdrive and both of them were accused of cheating – something Jordan was quick to dismiss.

He explained: “We have’t broken up because we want to start seeing other people – it’s just a break. We’ll give it a couple of months and see how it goes.

“We went from meeting on Ex on the Beach, to getting together on the show and then living together – so it might have been a case of too much, too soon. We were really happy, though.”

The new series of Ex on the Beach premieres early next year, and Jordan and Megan filmed it together when they were still a couple.

Discussing their reason for doing the show again, Jordan said: “We are the first couple to ever return to the show. We were there to make sure nobody took our title as the King and Queen, and to make sure that no other couples left the villa together.”

For now, Jordan has moved back to his hometown in Wales – but he and Deano [Bailey, his Ibiza Weekender co-star] are planning to move in together.

Jordan continued: “I’m getting a place with Deano in London in January. Living in Wales is not good for the industry I’m in. There’s just nothing in Wales – all the events and meetings are always in London.”

Things might be over between them for now, but Jordan praised Megan for making him a better person, confessing he grew up a lot during their relationship, something he can’t wait to show viewers during the new series of the Ibiza Weekender.

“It was filmed when Megan and I were still together,” Jordan said. “So people are going to see a different side to me. I’ve grown up and I want to show that, even though I was known as a top sh*gger before, I can enjoy myself and show off my personality without sleeping with loads of girls.”

And, even though Jordan knows that he might eventually have to move on, for now he’s still hoping for a reunion.

If not? “Whoever Megan ends up with will be a very lucky man,” he insisted. “Because you couldn’t ask for a better girlfriend.”

N'aww – is anyone else really, really hoping these two manage to work things out?
