It's been the toughest couple of months in my life

The racing driver – who won the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday – told reporters he’d had ‘someone special’ on his mind throughout the race.

'I feel like, the thought on my mind through the entire race was of someone really special to me. And I want to dedicate it to her,’ he said.

Lewis confirmed his interviewer’s suspicions that he was referring to a certain Pussycat Doll, before revealing how badly he is coping with the breakup.

It just doesn't feel the same. A couple of years ago we were here together and I won

It's been the toughest couple of months in my life,' Lewis confessed, So coming in to the race they [his parents] really wanted to lift my spirits keep my focus on and clearly it's not affecting my driving.

'But it just doesn't feel the same. A couple of years ago we were here together and I won, so I have great memories.'

The 28 year-old said his parents have comforted him in the past few weeks in the run-up to his big race.

'I've been on the phone to my mum this weekend who's been incredibly supportive. My dad's been calling me, I've been talking to my dad a lot the last week and he's been really supportive and just really trying to keep my spirits.’

He admitted had been on ‘a real downer for the last few weeks’ and wasn’t expecting to win Sunday’s race.

I wear my heart on my sleeve and it is hard to hide my emotions

The dedication comes after another emotional outburst from Lewis on Twitter last week.

'If you’ve found that special someone, don’t EVER let them go no matter what!! Nothing in this world is more important,’ he wrote to his followers.

Lewis has previously been open about the fact he finds it difficult to conceal his feelings, telling reporters at an earlier race: 'I wear my heart on my sleeve and it is hard to hide my emotions.'

However, Nicole has yet to publicly acknowledge her ex-boyfriend’s emotional tributes after the couple announced the split at the beginning of July.

At the time, reports suggested 34 year-old Nicole called time on the relationship after getting tired of waiting for a marriage proposal.
