The presenter, 38, admitted to a UK magazine that she even felt slightly awkward when the McBusted singer proposed to her!

She said: “Matt and I have never been romantic – I fins it all quite embarrassing myself. When he proposed it was like, ‘this is really weird.’

“I was so freaked out I couldn’t even call mum – then he told me, ‘Erm, your mum knows’.”

While Emma and Matt, 30, do make time for each other, she demands it be strictly free of all things romance.

“We have date nights, but we’ll just go to a movie and have dinner – no candlelit suppers!” She said.

Despite her ban on romance, The Voice presenter insists they are and have always been a team, especially when Matt went through a battle with drink and drugs.

She said: “But we are always a proper team: Team Willis. When Matt was at that point in his life, my parents were there for him too.

She admitted that becoming a mother helped her be better at her job

“He’s like a son to them. My mum should have been a counsellor.”

Emma also admitted that becoming a mum helped her overcome any fears she had when it came to interviewing people.

“Sometimes, interviewing people, I would feel so intimidated and nervous,” she said. “But when you’ve had kids, it gives you confidence – you think, ‘I’m a mum. I’m not scared. If I can raise a human being, I can f***ing do this!”
