Niall has previously admitted he has a crush on the Starry Eyes singer, 26, but Ellie has had to be decidedly more guarded, considering the hysterical nature of many of One D’s fanbase.
He made no secret of his admiration of the star in a recent interview with GQ, in which he described Goulding as ‘absolutely amazing looking.’
Continuing his cheer-leading, he then tweeted his 13,000 followers to ask them to go and buy Ellie’s latest single, Burn.
The blonde star admitted that she’s had some ‘interesting’ tweets since the story broke last week, but that she’s learnt to take the comments with a pinch of salt ‘because I’ve been told to be that way.’
Goulding recently split from actor boyfriend Jeremy Irvine, and has allegedly been texting One D’s Niall for a number of weeks.
Rumours suggested that Niall was dating Disney star Demi Lovato at the end of last year, although this was never officially confirmed by either party.
