Former EastEnders star Katie Jarvis has spoken out on The Victoria Derbyshire Show, after it was revealed she now works as a security guard at a B&M Bargain store in Romford, Essex.
The actress, who played Hayley Slater in the BBC One soap, confessed she appeared on the daytime TV show to hit back at "job shamers", who have been trolling her since the news broke.
Speaking about her latest job, Katie said, "All actors go through it over the years, I've had so many jobs in between and not just being a security guard.
"One of my sisters she calls me a dabbler because I seem to do a bit of everything and I like to be busy and I like to learn new things, it doesn't matter what it is."

"I don't feel like anyone should be made to feel like how I felt when I woke up [when the story broke.]
"I think as long as you're working that's all that matters."
She went on to say how her job is vital for the store, adding she provide comfort and protection for the customers visiting the shop.
Katie said, "A lot goes into being a security guard, they put themselves at risk. I took that job on and joined my sister because she's a security guard there."

Katie, mum to Lillie Mae, ten, and Alfie, eight, joined the soap in 2018 and was immediately at the centre of a huge storyline, after her character fell pregnant with Alfie Moon's baby.
It later transpired that the pair had had an affair while they were both in Spain, and when Hayley rocked up to the Square, they attempted to keep it a secret.

However, in true soap style, the news was blurted out on 2018's Christmas Day episode, with the drama STILL unravelling in February, until Katie disappeared from our screens, without explanation.
A source told The Daily Star the reason behind Katie's mystery exit, saying, "A lot of people have been wondering where Hayley is after she left so suddenly but the mystery has been solved, she’s in Romford working at B&M.
"There was so much speculation about her departure, but there was no reason to keep the character in Albert Square once the storyline ended and Alfie had gone."
