50 years after Michelle Rooney was abandoned as a baby in a laundry bag, she has finally been reunited with her long lost mother.

Following an emotional reunion, Michelle and her mother appeared on Good Morning Britain to share their experiences.

Michelle spent 25 years searching for her birth mum and after a long struggle she finally has the answers that she always longed for.

Her birth mother Angie Smith fell pregnant by milkman John Good in 1968.

Angie was too scared to come forward

After feeling ashamed by her pregnancy, Angie gave birth in her father’s garden shed. She then cut her own umbilical cord with a pair of scissors.

Tragically, Angie was initially too scared to come forward after her own mother threatened to remove the sons she later went on to raise.

Michelle revealed that they made contact online before meeting in person, connecting after decades apart.

She said: “Obviously we just chatted to each other online for a bit.”

Following the initial shock of meeting for the first time since Michelle was abandoned, the mother and daughter were shocked by their striking familial similarities.

Michelle explained: “When we first met we just stared at each other for a bit.”
