Blue star Duncan James's Hollyoaks debut was postponed recently due to ill health, and after a tell-all interview he tweeted to thank his fans for all their support.

So what actually went on?

Well, according to the interview with the Sunday Mirror, Duncan became paralysed and had to be rushed to hospital due to back problems. "Doctors told me I could have spent the rest of my life in a wheelchair - or died. The feeling in my leg may take years to come back - and it may never return," he said.

It began when the singer/actor noticed his left leg was totally numb. After being rushed into surgery back in June, all seemed well until one night his recovery took a turn for the worse.

"I was getting headaches like I've never had before. It was throbbing. It was agony and I felt sick. And I could feel a swelling in my back that I knew wasn't right," Duncan said of the moment he knew the surgery hadn't worked.

"It was a Saturday night, and I was with mum watching TV. Suddenly I'm soaking wet. My back had opened, and all this fluid, called cerebrospinal fluid, was just pouring out of me."

Argh, sounds awful.

Thankfully, though, Duncan was patched up a second time and has praised the doctors and nurses who looked after him, calling them the "only reason I can walk today".

Taking to Twitter, James thanked fans for helping through what sounds like a very difficult time - and will make his Hollyoaks debut on August 11 instead.

We hope you get back to full health soon Duncan!

And, needless to say, we'll be watching his Hollyoaks debut this week...
