Bianca John, 25, discovered her new husband's sordid secret while he fought for his life
When Bianca John and her fiancé, Adam Ledner, appeared on reality TV show Don’t Tell The Bride, where the groom is responsible for planning every aspect of the big day – even the wedding dress – they were very much the loved-up newlyweds.
Despite their somewhat shambolic nuptials – the reception venue was a warehouse filled with sand to represent a beach and the tacky bridal gown cost just £140 – Bianca was convinced she’d married The One.
But just 16 months later, the fairy tale unravelled. After falling ill, Adam was rushed to intensive care – and while Bianca, from Aberschyan, waited outside, a strange text appeared on her new husband’s phone. Curious, Bianca soon found shocking messages exchanged between Adam and his friends, sharing explicit details about his affair with another woman.
Mum-of-one Bianca said: “I felt sick. I’d been beside myself, so worried that the man I loved was seriously ill. But he clearly didn’t care about me. I was furious and felt so betrayed. I went home, packed some of his stuff in the car, drove back to hospital and left the car keys with the nurses. I wanted nothing more to do with him.
“Adam recovered three days later, he’d been diagnosed with an enlarged heart after overworking himself at the gym, but I wasn’t there when he woke up. Our relationship was over the moment I read the message. I knew I could never trust him again.”
Adam responded: "Bianca's always joked with me, saying things like 'you could do with going to the gym a bit more,' and this other girl was telling me I was God's gift. I woke up in intensive care and I was told that Bianca knew everything. I really do regret it, but I needed it at the time."
