Coronation Street actress Dolly-Rose Campbell, who plays Gemma Winter, has “finally accepted” herself and come out as bisexual
Chesney Brown’s on-screen love interest will record a voiceover advert for Manchester Gay Pride, which she has recently been made ambassador of.
As a long-running attendee of the prestigious parade, which winds around the world-famous gay village and Canal Street, Dolly-Rose has decided the time is right to speak up and “finally accept who [she] really is.”
She told the Daily Star, “I have been coming to pride for over a decade now.
“The love and acceptance shown by the people of Manchester allowed me to accept my bisexuality and be proud of who I am.
“I am thrilled to be an ambassador for Manchester Pride. The work that Manchester Pride does throughout the year to engage with and create opportunities for people in Manchester’s LGBTQ+ community and beyond makes a huge difference to so many people’s lives.

And in 1998, Hayley Cropper – played by Julie Hesmondhalgh – made history as the first transgender character on a British soap and the first permanent trans character in a serial drama.
