With all the headlines about who’s returning – or more importantly, who’s NOT returning – happening, we just cant keep up with which of our favourite TV personalities will be gracing our screens when for this year’s X Factor.

Caroline Flack's reportedlty had the sack.

Nick Grimshaw wants out of the judging game.

Olly Murs is more about making music than presenting it.

And as for Ant and Dec, it’s a no from them.

But there’s one blast from the past that might be coming back on the talent show this year, in the form of the lovely Dermott O’Leary.

The 42-year-old presenter first got involved with Simon Cowell’s popular show in 2007, taking over from Kate Thornton.

But after eight years, he called it a day in 2015, letting pals Olly and Caroline step in to fill his boots.

And according to some sources, it seems a year hiatus may be enough for old Dermot, as it’s rumoured that he’s going to be making a comeback for 2016 .

A source told The Sun:

“Dermot will come back to 'The X Factor'. Talks are under way on his deal but everything is positive. Everyone, including Dermot and Simon [Cowell], has the will to make it work."

"Producers have realised you can't take any risks with the presenter of the show. You need someone really good who can cope with live TV. It is a massive skill and there are not many people who have it.

Last year’s series saw some awkward moment of controversy, namely when Olly (as much as we love the cheeky chap) accidently revealed the name of the person to be leaving the saw before it had gone into deadlock results.

"There is even talk Dermot could be offered the presenting job for the rest of the show's life when a new deal is signed with ITV. Bosses are looking at a two or three-year contract for him."
