Even at weekends I’m up at 6.30am
I’m generally awake with the kids whatever day it is! Midweek, my alarm goes off with Chris Moyles at 6.30am because that’s when he does ‘the morning song’ and I love that. I’m a huge fan, and he’s a good mate too.
Ben and I take turns making the tea
I try and get myself sorted before the kids come up, and whoever’s turn it is gets the tea. We get the kids ready, and bundle them all out of the house finding trainers and things on the way. If I’m covering Fearne Cotton’s show during the week, I drop Lola off at school and Isaac at nursery or with the nanny with Renee.
I always drive myself and my car is disgusting
I think some milk has been dropped in there, there’s rotting fruit, it stinks! I make my way into London and as I’ve got no kids with me, I can go and get a nice frothy coffee for me and the radio team. ** **
I change out of my mum hat into my work DJ hat
We look through the papers and have a gossip with Natalie who does the entertainment news. ** **
You kind of do just turn up and start talking
I will normally put notes in my phone too of what I’ve been up to or things that made me laugh on TV. ** **
I love eating on my own
When the show’s done, if I don’t have to rush home I might stay out and get some niceVietnamese noodles, and sit down with a book. After lunch I might have other work meetings, or I’ll get the kids and go down to the sandpits at our local park. Then I get Lola at four and hang out with the kids. I'm helping launch the Dairylea Campaign for Simple Fun, which encourages you to spend time with your kids playing games you remember from your childhood. We play Sardines, which is a fancy version of hide and seek – by my three year old doesn't really get it! He just wanders out of his hiding place, going, "Hello?"
I’m in charge of cooking and the house
It might be a mash mountain – the evil knights are mini sausages, then there’s the magic lake, which is the glazing, the enchanted broccoli forest, and sweetcorn treasure! It goes on and on! There’s a story involved and it really works, they love it. Me and Ben will have a more relaxing meal after they’re in bed as I find I tend to be dodging flying sweetcorn with them!
Evenings are pretty much kiddie central
Then I’ll flop down on the sofa just past seven and either drag myself to the gym if I haven’t had chance, or I might do some skipping on my decking or a bit of yoga.
We go out partying every couple of weeks
We might get a babysitter in and head out for sushi or a film, but quite happily two or three weeks will pass without me touching alcohol. I can go for weeks just chilling, then we’ll go out and perhaps go crazy - but it’s nice to do that every once in a while!
