The 40-year-old has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, a title he more than deserves, and he was appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live when the announcement was made.
Dad-of-four David joked: “It’s the best moment of my career, I can’t believe it. I’d obviously like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world. I would like to thank my hairdresser, my stylist, photoshop.”
We can’t imagine Becks’ steamy shoots ever need much touching up, but he also confessed to People that he doesn’t think he’s attractive.
He said: “I never feel that I’m an attractive, sexy person. I mean, I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good – but I don’t ever think of myself that way.”
Unsurprisingly, David’s lucky wife Victoria, 41, does think he’s worthy of the title – but their sons Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, and 10-year-old Cruz aren’t as convinced.
David continued: “I would hope that she feels this way about me all the time anyway! But she said, ‘Congratulations!’
“We kind of laughed about it with the boys and the boys kind of laughed at me and said, ‘Really?! Sexiest man alive? Really?”
The retired footballer – who also shares four-year-old daughter Harper with Victoria – revealed Brooklyn even joked it should be him on the cover.
He added: “[He] was like, ‘Are you sure it’s not me that’s meant to be there today?’”
