The glitz and glamour of show business doesn’t necessarily ensure a happy relationship. In fact, many celeb couples go their separate ways – whether it’s after a few months, or a few years.

Just last year we saw Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split after 11 years, and it came as such a huge shock because from the outside everything looked perfect.

However, one famous couple that are bucking the trend of broken celeb marriages are David and Victoria Beckham.

They have been married now for almost twenty years – yes, it really has been that long! – and have four beautiful children together.

And now David has come forward to discuss the difficulties of marriage, and the importance of communication in a relationship.

Talking on a Radio 4 show, David said: “People have talked about 'do we stay together because it's a brand?' Of course not.

“We stay together because we love each other. We stay together because we have four amazing children. We're a strong family unit. We've got strong parents, we were brought up with the right values.

“Of course you make mistakes over the years," he said.

"We all know marriage is difficult at times, and it's about working through it.

"Whenever we've come through tough times ... we talk."

It’s so refreshing when a celebrity comes forward and discusses things like relationships so frankly, and it’s an important reminder that even when it looks like others have it all, you never know what people are going through.

He also revealed that the couple renewed their vows at an intimate private ceremony at their house in front just a handful of people.
