The 39-year-old was picking up Brooklyn, 15, from a football match yesterday when the incident occurred.
Brooklyn was playing for Arsenal's under-16s in a match against Brighton's under-16s.
Brighton player Archie Davies tweeted: "Just seen David Beckham looks like he got in a car crash and hurt his shoulder."
His teammate Thomas Cadman also witnessed the smash, writing: "Weird to play against Brooklyn Beckham earlier. Even weirder to be currently stuck behind David Beckham as he has crashed his car."

David, who was driving his grey Audi RS6, did not require hospital treatment for his injury, it was alleged.
The female driver of the other car involved was taken to hospital, although it is not known how severe her injuries are.
A source told the Mirror: "They were shaken. It was quite a heavy prang at quite a high speed but everybody walked away uninjured. Everybody's fine. Thankfully the car's airbags deployed."
Last year David and Brooklyn were involved in another crash, outside their Beverly Hills home.
