The 47-year-old, who hails from Colchester in Essex, insists that these days he’s a changed man, and is very much dedicated to his wife and kids.
But things haven’t always been that way – by the end of the 90s, Darren was more famous for his colourful love-life and expensive cocaine habit, than the theatre work that gave him his name.

Darren Day and Anna Friel
Darren and Anna, then regarded as that nation’s sweetheart, got together in 1994. They were together for three years, and he even proposed, but Darren unceremoniously dumped the actress in 1997.

Two weeks later, Darren went public with Coronation Street actress Tracy. The couple met while on tour with musical Summer Holiday.
Darren also popped the question to Tracy – famous for playing Maxine Peacock in the ITV soap – but they split in 1998.
He famously gave Tracy the £30,000 ring he’d proposed to Anna with and, after the break-up, spoke in great detail about cocaine-fuelled sex sessions.

Before she married Ali G star Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla dated bad boy Darren.He claimed she was the first woman he’d ever loved but, although they too got engaged, they broke up in 2000, with him citing their ‘hectic schedules’ as the reason.

In 2002 Darren started seeing fellow pantomime actor Adele Vellacot. They were appearing in the same play and, at the time, he insisted: “We will be together for a long time.”
But shortly after he and Adele announced their engagement it was revealed he’d been sleeping with his Summer Holiday co-star Suzanne Shaw.

Despite the way they got together, Darren insisted Suzanne had changed him – and it wasn’t long before they were engaged and expecting their first child.
Darren and Suzanne’s son, Corey Mackenzie Day, was born in December 2005. But on Mother’s Day the following year they broke up. According to reports, Darren walked out on her because he ‘didn’t do family’.

But in 2007 Darren married Stephanie Dooley and they share daughter Madison, nine, and four-year-old son Dalton. Although they’re still together now – and Darren insists his love rat days are firmly behind him – Stephanie split from him briefly in 2010 after discovering he’d spent the night with Suzanne.
Suzanne and Darren later insisted nothing happened, but confirmed they did spend the night together.
Stephanie told OK! Magazine: “I know he’d never go back to the life he had.”
