The finale of Strictly Come Dancing will soon be upon us, and with head judge Len Goodman set to leave the panel at the end of the series, speculation has been rife about who will land his coveted role.
The latest rumour doing the rounds is that current panellist Darcey Bussell could step into Len's shoes as the top dog behind the judging desk.
If former ballerina Darcey, 47, lands the role, she would have the power to make the casting vote whenever a dance-off decision is in deadlock.
"The executives would like to see a female in the role, and Darcey has established herself as a major figure on the show," a source told The Sun.
"They wouldn't be comfortable bringing somebody in over her head. The job is quite a calm and level-headed one, for which Darcey would be perfect - and the viewers love her."
But the appointment could put a few noses out of joint – in particular hot favourites to take the role, veteran dancers Anton du Beke, 50, and Brendan Cole, 40.
Anton is the odds on favourite to be offered Len's job, but Darcey's promotion could still see him taking up a seat on the panel.
Other names in the frame include former dancer Karen Hardy, 46, Dancing With The Stars favourite Gary Edwards, 50, former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips, 73, and 2011 Glitterball champ, McFly's Harry Judd, 30.
Speaking on spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two, Len, 72, recently revealed his thoughts on who he'd like to take over when he steps down.
"My take is whoever they pick is good with me," he explained. "But I do hope they pick somebody from ballroom and Latin."
