Danny Dyer and Joanne Mas met when they were just 14-years-old
However it wasn’t until this year, after having three kids - Dani, Sunnie, and Arty - together, that the pair decided to get engaged.
And that’s partly down to the fact that they’ve had their fair share of ups and downs over the years.
"Me and Joanne have had our ups and downs, and even broke up for a spell," the EastEnders star explains in an extract from Life Lessons from the East End, which is serialised in The Sun On Sunday.

"That was the worst time of my life.
"I was utterly and completely lost, doing mad, self-destructive things that seemed like fun at the time but, looking back, were just covering up how unhappy I was.”
The childhood sweethearts are now back together and happier than ever before… although this is partly down to Danny’s alter-ego, Mick Carter.
He said cheekily: “When you’ve got kids your relationship revolves around the children, so you start thinking, ‘When was the last time we properly kissed each other? You know, full-on?
“I’ve had my lines written for me by the best writers in the world, and I sometimes do use those, particularly if I’ve had a row with the missus, in a wooing-back kind of way."
Danny added: “All right, you might think it’s a bit naughty because I’m making out it’s come from my nut. But it has a truth about it.”
Hey, if it works, it works!
And, after all, it IS the thought that counts...
