The EastEnders actor and Jo, both 37, had daughter Dani when they were teenagers.
Danny was 19 and Jo 18 – but it’s made him and his eldest as close as they can be.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Danny said: “Having Dani at 19 was too young, but it’s made me the man I am today. Me and Dani talk about absolutely anything – she’s one of my best mates in the world.”
Just like any best mate, aspiring actress Dani, 18, is on hand to take care of any overly friendly female fans.
She said: “There’s a difference between a woman being a fan and a woman who’s taking a liberty. A little while ago who wanted a picture and, ten minutes later, she’s still hanging around.
“My dad is very polite so it can sometimes backfire on him. My instant reaction is to think about my mum, so I’ve stepped in a few times.”
Danny and Jo are also parents to daughter Sunnie, eight, and 19-month-old son Arty. Earlier this year they confirmed their engagement – and Dani revealed her mum’s proposal came after turning Danny down once before.
“Dan comes across as confident but he’s quite shy. When he was drunk at Kellie Bright’s wedding [last year], he asked mum to marry him and she said no – he meant it but she says no to wind him up!”
