The 41 year-old – who gave birth to son Ethan three years ago – told an Australian magazine that becoming a mother compromises a woman’s identity.

'There’s a time when you are pregnant an after you have the baby where you lose a bit of your identity.’

However, the mum-of-one said she has now managed to regain her former confidence.

'I’m finally back to my old self and I have a bit more time in the day to actually put on a pair of earrings that aren’t going to be ripped out of my ears! I feel like I’m back in my own skin,’ she said.

Although having a child knocked her self-esteem the first time round, Dannii – who has remained single since splitting from Ethan’s father Kris Smith last year – revealed she is already considering giving Ethan a little brother or sister.

'[Ethan] makes me laugh all the time. They start doing cute things and you think, "Oh, I’d love to have another one"... I’m definitely clucky.'

Dannii – who spoke candidly about her experience of motherhood – said she credits none-other than former love interest Simon Cowell for 'teaching me to say what I really think'.

The judge on Australia’s X Factor judge said: 'I don’t think I’m mean but I try to be constructive and firm. You’ve got to have integrity.’
