Danniella Westbrook has announced a surprising new career move following Jeremy Kyle Show appearance that saw her sent back to rehab
The troubled star made a tearful appearance on the now-axed show, after which she was given support for rehabilitation. Now reportedly clean, Danniella has revealed that she’s training to be a therapist so that she can help others.
“I think personally for me the only thing that's going to stop me is keeping to the programme, helping others, helping the newcomer and getting involved with the treatment centre,” she told Victoria Derbyshire.
"I'm hoping this September to start my therapist course so I can become a therapist. There's so many people out there crying out for it and young people as well.”

Daniella started her showbiz career in modelling and, as a child, launched Next's children's fashionware, before becoming the face of high-street chain Tammy Girl. She also appeared in television advertisements for Opel cars and Coca Cola, had a small part in Grange Hill and appeared in the West End.After appearing as an extra in EastEnders she was put forward for the role of Sam Mitchell at the age of 16 and successfully auditioned before first appearing on the BBC soap in July 1990.

The actress has been open about her addiction to drugs and has admitted she first tried cocaine at the age of 14.After winning a part in EastEnders she became a regular on the London club scene and her drug use escalated, and by the age of 21 she was spending £400 a day on cocaine.In 2000 fans were shocked when pictures were published that showed Daniella's eroded nasal septum due to excessive drug use.Danniella checked into rehab and six months later appeared on television show The Priory when she claimed she had not used drugs in months. However, hosts Jamie Theakston and Zoe Ball struggled to get coherent answers from her as she was on drugs at the time despite her claims.She later said: "I said I was clean, but it was obvious I wasn't. I look about 50, and my voice was shaky. I should never have been allowed on. They wanted to laugh at me, rip me apart. I despise that sort of thing, but it did me the world of good because watching it I realised, 'I'm so ill.'"When it came to the crunch I thought, 'Hang on. I don't want to die.'"The star went back to rehab to try and beat her drug habit again and underwent reconstructive surgery on her nose.

A couple of years after joining EastEnders Danniella was starting to look more like a star in 2002. She was a regular on the red carpet and was often pictured on a night out and played up to the part by wearing her hair big, long and curly.

She turned people's opinions of her around following a successful stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016 and EastEnders bosses even invited her back to reprise her role of Sam Mitchell on EastEnders for a short period.

Daniella made a shock appearance on Jeremy Kylie in 2018, as she revealed a drugs and alcohol relapse. The devastating effects of substance addiction were evident. Daniella wore here hair cropped and brunette. She broke down in tears, before her friend Jeremy told her that he'd pay for her to go back into rehab.

The former EastEnders star even said she was hoping to set up her own rehab facility by the end of the year.
Danniella’s battles with drink and drugs have been well documented throughout her career, most famously when she was papped with a collapsed septum in 2000.
But following her latest rehab stint she says she’s feeling the best she has in six years, and credits her son Kai, 22, for his support.

"I tried to kill myself daily really through using and drinking alcohol and also on top of that I had the cancer diagnosis, which I just ignored for 12 months until my son gave up his house and moved in with me and was constantly on at me to see what I was doing with my life,” she continued.
In September last year, Danniella confirmed she had been diagnosed with womb cancer, but the following April revealed she’d been given the all clear.
"Today I feel so much gratitude. I got the all clear today and want to thank my doctor and all his team at Luton & Dunstable hospital for the amazing care they gave me,” she said.
