The 47-year-old stars in Spectre – his fourth time playing Bond – but he’s insisted he’d rather self harm than play the famous spy again.

Speaking to Time Out London, Daniel said: “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists… I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.

“For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it… if I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

Several big names have been suggested as Daniel’s successor to play 007, but he’s not fussed who takes over.

He continued: “Look, I don’t give a f***. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better.”

When asked if he had any advice for the person who’ll play Bond next, he added: “Don’t be sh_t. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this anymore. This is really rare now. So don’t be sh_t.”

Daniel is actually thought to be contracted to make at least one more James Bond movie after Spectre, which is released next month, and he previously insisted he’d carry on for as long as they’d have him.

He recently said: “I’ll keep going for as long as I’m physically able.”
