During the last series, Craig, 50, received the devastating news that his brother had died from a heart attack and he pulled out to be with his family.
But the Coronation Street star is being given a second chance at the show, it has been reported.
A source told The Sun: "There would have been nothing Craig would have enjoyed more that staying but Dean's death made that impossible."
Craig was in the jungle alongside TOWIE star Gemma Collins, who left the show for completely different reasons.
After having numerous breakdowns, Gemma, 34, quit after just three days – insisting she couldn't handle it.
Because of Gemma's premature exit, it's been claimed that bosses have banned stars of The Only Way Is Essex from taking part in the ITV reality show.
A source told the Daily Star: "We can't face the prospect of having any more moaning divas quitting. It causes chaos for us and viewers get annoyed too."
