Trevor was last seen on Monday night at his home in Wirksworth. Concerned relatives described him as having ‘plaster casts’ on his wrists when he went missing.
Kym Marsh was among those who took to Twitter to share her sadness, writing: “Very sad news today. Still in shock. A huge loss for us all RIP to an amazing guy #so young [sic]”
Catherine Tyldesley said: “Just awful. A true gentleman. So thoughtful, kind and gentle. RIP. Gods new angel [sic]”
While the body discovered hasn’t been confirmed to be Trevor’s, a statement from Derbyshire police said: “Officers believe that the body found this afternoon is Trevor Smith, who was also known as Trevor Hancock.”
Antony Cotton who plays Sean Tully on the soap, wrote: “Love life and live life because you just never know… With great sadness, @Ecclestoneshire and I have just raised a glass to our friend and colleague who died today. Rest in peace my friend.”
Samia Ghadie shared a quote, which read: “Be grateful for every second of every day that you get to spend with the people you love. Life is so precious.”
Trevor appeared in Corrie in 1999, when he played a valuer working at the estate agents who were selling The Kabin.
