The real-life Tracy Barlow reportedly invited him in for a drink but, half an hour later, they were disturbed by the arrival of his girlfriend, banging on her front door and asking why he was so late getting home.
As the dispute went from the house to the street, the police were called at around 9.30pm, shortly after which Paul’s ex-girlfriend arrived on the scene too, insisting that she wanted to take their son home with her.
Paul was eventually led away in handcuffs, after allegedly assaulting his current girlfriend.
Kate told the newspaper: “There was a domestic at my house but it was nothing to do with me.
“Paul was picking up his boy and had been at my home half an hour when this woman turned up and refused to leave.
“Their relationship problems are their problems. There is nothing going on between me and Paul and never has been.”
She also defended herself for getting so caught up in the row, adding: “Wouldn’t you say ‘F*** off you b**ch, get out of my house, you’ve been here for hours?’
"How would you feel if the ex-wife then turns up at your house with the police?”
Kate recently opened up about her painful split from husband of seven years Jon Connerty.
She explained: “We really tried hard to make it work. But it came to the point when we knew we had to get a divorce.
“Things had changed and it wasn't what it was. But it was incredibly painful. For a while after we split, I found it hard to get out of bed.”
The couple share a six-year-old son named Otis.
