The Coronation Street actress, 30, announced her happy news on Twitter, telling her followers she and partner Chris Farr are having their first baby together.
She tweeted yesterday: “We have some happy news to share. Chris and I are expecting an addition to our family. Very happy x.”
Jennie was immediately flooded with messages of congratulations from her followers and from her fellow Coronation Street stars.
Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntrye, said: “SO SO excited for u! Congratulations! Amazing news!!!!!! xxx.”
Jack P Shepherd, AKA David Platt, replied saying: “knew it! Well done! X.”
Jennie and Chris have been in a relationship since 2005, after being introduced by Athony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in the soap.
Antony called Jennie at the time and said, ‘I’m here with your future husband. Do you want me to put him on the phone?’ Following the call, they went on a few dates and have been together ever since.
As well as her acting work, Jennie also has a restaurant in Manchester called Annie’s, which she and Chris co-own.
Speaking previously of her and Chris’ relationship, Jennie said: “We are both romantic, but I think romantic things are just the simplest things, like making a cup of tea when your other half gets home.
“We often buy each other silly little presents. I don’t think being romantic is about buying something or a big gesture. It’s doing nice for someone throughout the year.”
