We were totally heartbroken when we'd heard our favourtie soap couple had split just two months ago.

Back in March, Lucy-Jo and Alan's people said: "Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall are sad to announce that they have separated.

“They have shared many wonderful years together and will remain close friends."

Hence why, when Alan declared his love for the former on-screen Katy Harris via Twitter, we couldn't control our excitement.

And now the pair have confirmed they are back together and committed to trying to save their marriage - yay!

In a statement issued to Loose Women, mum-of-one Lucy-Jo said:

"Al and I did keep talking during our four months apart and recently we started spending time trying to work things through together as we know we both want to save our marriage."

The pair have been married for seven years, and have daughter Sienna Rae, one, together.

Corrie’s Alan Halsall declares love for ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson on Twitter

Penning a message to his estranged wife on Twitter, Alan - who plays Tyrone Dobbs in ITV’s Corrie - wrote: “Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife @LucyJo_Hudson who is 33 today.

“Love you so much darling, and cannot wait for Paris.”

And his message didn’t go unreciprocated.

Just moments later, she responded with a string of heart-eyed emojis, adding firmly that she is a “lucky girl”.

The message came as something of a surprise to their fans, as it was just a few weeks ago that the couple confirmed that they are separating.

Their joint statement read: “Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall are sad to announce that they have separated.

“They have shared many wonderful years together and will remain close friends.

“They ask for privacy at this emotional time, to allow both to focus on their beautiful daughter Sienna-Rae, to ensure her continued happiness.”

The couple together on the red carpet in 2009

Lucy-Jo later sat down with ITV’s Loose Women, where she admitted to felling very “up and down” about the split.

She said: “I am up and down. It’s difficult. But we are very amicable and we talk daily.

“We’ll remain friends and I genuinely mean that. We still care for each other.”

Just a few days later, the pair were photographed kissing passionately at a charity football event in memory of the late Corrie legend Bill Tarmey.

Alan played Tyrone Dobbs on the show, and Lucy-Jo played character Katy Harris.

They began dating in 2005 after meeting on set, and tied the knot four years later on June 13 2009.

In February 2013, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, and welcomed daughter Sienna Rae in September of the same year.

We really hope the cute couple are set to announce that they’re back together - they’re one of our fave showbiz couples!
