Everyone loves Mary Poppins, right? Well, you're about the love it a little bit more, because Colin Firth has reportedly signed on to be a part of the upcoming sequel.
The British actor will join the likes of Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer and Lin-Manuel Miranda in Mary Poppins Returns, set 25 years after events of the original film. And it looks like it might be, you know, actually good.
Colin is currently in negotiations to play the president of a bank, the role of William Weatherall Wilkins of the Fidelity Fiduciary Bank, at which George Banks, the children’s father, works in the first film.
The new story is set in 1930s Britain, when Michael and Jane Banks (Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer) have all grown up and receive a surprise visit from their former nanny.
Emily Blunt will play Mary Poppins and Meryl Streep has been cast as her cousin, Topsy.
