It’s been a difficult few months filled with courtroom drama, but Coleen Rooney let off some steam and relaxed while on holiday in Ibiza last week.

Joined by former Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick and his wife Lisa, and Macclesfield defender Alex Bruce and his wife Lucy – Coleen, 36, and her football star husband Wayne, 36, looked more loved-up than ever.

All smiles on a yacht in The White Isle, Coleen looked stunning in a pink gown as she leaned into her husband of 14 years.

At her recent trial – where she faced a multimillion-pound libel battle brought by fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy after accusing her Instagram account of leaking stories to the tabloids in what was infamously dubbed the “WAGatha Christie” case – she and Wayne put on a united front.

Dutifully sitting by his wife’s side over the course of the seven-day trial, Wayne was pictured holding hands with his high-school sweetheart each morning as they entered court, gave evidence to support her case and refused to look her nemesis Rebekah, 40, in the eye while she was in the witness box.

Closer previously reported how Wayne’s unwavering support had left Coleen feeling “confident and relaxed” at the trial and had left them “stronger than ever” – with the pair even planning on renewing their vows for their 15th anniversary next year.

And sources now say that the couple – already parents to sons Kai, 12, Klay, nine, Kit, six, and four-year-old Cass – are so loved-up at the moment that they’re even considering adding to their brood.

Coleen has been open in the past about wanting a daughter, saying in 2017, “I can imagine having a girl. I’ve got a massive family so I’m around girls as well as having boys myself. I’m not desperate, but a girl would be nice as part of the family.”

And the source says, “Coleen and Wayne really let their hair down on their couples holiday after their break in Dubai with the kids. Getting away for some time in the sun and sea is just what she’s needed after a stressful few months and it’s really brought them closer together than ever.

“They’re in a great place and she’s just so grateful they’ve got to where they are. There’s even been talk of trying for another baby. Everyone knows they’d love a little girl and now looks like a good time for them to start considering it.”

Coleen and Wayne’s romance has seen some turbulent times over the years. The former England captain has been accused of being unfaithful on several occasions, the first being in 2002 when he reportedly met with three prostitutes at a Liverpool brothel.

It was claimed in 2010 that he’d again met with sex workers while Coleen was pregnant with their first child Kai, infamously having a threesome with Jenny Thompson and Helen Wood – who went on to make a name for herself as a reality star.

After a string of other incidents he was pictured last year asleep in a hotel room with young women, although there is no suggestion anything untoward happened.

Coleen once took to Facebook to defend her marriage, posting, “Do I love Wayne? Yes I do. If I didn’t then I wouldn’t be trying to make it work. I know I would be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don’t want to live like that, I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because that’s what I want to do.”

And the source says that getting to where they are today has taken a lot of hard work.

“They wouldn’t be where they are now without a lot of effort and new rules for Wayne to live by. Now that the drama of the trial is over, Coleen is keen for them to stay on track. She wants their lives to be an open book, with no more secrets and nothing to hide.”

And in a recent fly-on-the-wall documentary about her husband’s life, Rooney, Coleen said, “Forgiveness I’d say is different. It’s not acceptable what he’s done but it’s happened and that was a stage of life that we were in at the time. But we’ve moved on.”

And the source adds that she is hopeful that they have a long and happy future ahead.

“Coleen never wants to get back to the place she was in, when it all came out about Wayne. But she’s optimistic – if anything, the trial has shown her that, when the chips are down, Wayne will always be by her side. He did his part in court, and no matter how embarrassing it was for him,
he didn’t complain.

“She’s owed for everything she’s done for him over the years, but she wants to close that chapter now and make
a fresh start.”
